Sash Windows — common questions
Visually, yes — modern timber and high-end uPVC sash windows reproduce traditional mouldings, sightlines and proportions very faithfully. The internal mechanism uses spring balances rather than weights and cords, but the appearance is virtually identical.

Original sashes often were — modern sash windows aren't. We use weather-tight brush seals and modern double or triple glazing, so a new sash window seals just as well as a casement when closed.
Very — modern sashes feature multi-point locking, anti-jemmy bolts and internally beaded glazing. They meet all current UK security standards while preserving the traditional look.
Most modern sashes do — both the upper and lower sashes tilt inward into the room for safe, easy cleaning of the outside glass. This is a huge upgrade over traditional sashes, particularly on upper floors.
